My first official research position was with this project under the guidance of my advisor, Dr. Sarah Lashley. This experience provided an ideal introduction to research, as I began by examining the current land footprint of the college while also learning about its expansion history and its relationship with the city of Rock Island. As a local, I gained a deeper understanding of the college's influence on the city. My next task involved documenting faculty and staff addresses over time to analyze how faculty migration patterns have shifted away from living in Rock Island. Additionally, I conducted interviews with individuals across campus, exploring relationships related to industry, economy, violence, and social differences, all tied to the college's history and expansion, including the transient community that developed within a mile radius of the campus.

The project, Campus Community Relations over time, involved serving as a Research Assistant under Dr. Sarah Lashley at Augustana College from January 2022 to May 2022. The project focused on the implications of campus expansion for Rock Island and involved attending weekly meetings to receive research topics for a chapter on the land's perception over history for a book being written by various professors.
